We are excited to invite you to the return of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge’s biennial exhibition, Art Flow Junior! This rendition of Art Flow Junior will celebrate the creative voices of today’s young Louisiana artists, prompting them to create a work inspired by the phrase, “No Place Like Home”. What does that mean to you? Students eligible for this exhibition are grades 6 through 12 and have a passion for creativity and art.

Location: Shell Gallery at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, 233 St. Ferdinand St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802 

Call Opens: February 28, 2024

Call Closes: October 14, 2024 

Selection Notification: October 23, 2024

 

Requirements:

· Submit up to THREE works of art for selection via Submittable

· Artists will be notified of selection by Friday, March 29, 2024

· 2-D works- cannot exceed approximately 40" wide and approximately 25lbs

· 3-D works- size and weight requirements subject to Arts Council discretion and space availability

· Submitted works must have been completed between January 2022 - present.

· Brief Artist Statement (max. 75 words)

· All exhibiting artists must submit an artist statement and resume or CV to ACGBR for informational purposes. Artist must also submit an inventory list of all artwork that will be included in the exhibit, with valuation. Said inventory list (images included), signed by the artist, must be attached to this agreement and thereby made part of the same.

 

Artist Agreement and Exhibition Policy 

1. Delivery/Return of Artwork 

a. Registered artwork must be delivered to the Shell Gallery at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, starting Monday, April 1, 9am – 4pm through Thursday, April 4, 9am – 4pm.

b. Accepted work must be collected from the Shell Gallery at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, starting Thursday, May 16, 9am– 4pm through Wednesday, May 22, 9am – 4pm. A storage fee of $25.00 per day will be charged to the Artist for any artwork left after May 22 2024, said sum payable prior to the return of the work. 

d. All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation. Two-dimensional works must be framed or gallery wrapped and all work must be finished to museum quality. All works must have proper hanging hardware installed. Three-dimensional work must be ready for gallery installation or if outdoor work, must be able to withstand inclement weather and change in temperature. All pieces that require assembly will be accepted only if the artist is responsible for assembling the pieces personally or if the artist hires a qualified individual to assemble the pieces. Artist is responsible for all assembly of work outside of installation. 

e. The ACGBR will review artwork upon delivery, conducting a condition report of artwork upon arrival. ACGBR reserves the right to exclude the artworks from the exhibition. Determination of artwork placement and all curatorial decisions are at the discretion of ACGBR. f. Exhibited artwork will only be released to the artist after the completion of the exhibition. No artwork may be removed during the agreed upon exhibition display dates listed above, for any reason.

 

2. Sale of Artwork 

a. If the artist chooses to list the artwork for sale, the ACGBR will receive a 30% commission on all artwork sales. State and local sales tax are based on the sale price and will be added to the sale price of artwork to be paid by the purchaser, in accordance with State and local law. 

 

3. Liability, Insurance and Indemnification 

a. It is understood and agreed that the artwork(s) may be photographed or electronically recorded for the archival and/or promotional purposes. It is further understood that the exhibit will be accessible to the public and may be photographed or electronically recorded through social media or other means. 

b. ACBGR, the Exhibition Host Venue, their agents and assigns, shall be held harmless for any loss, theft, or damage that may occur to the loaned artwork(s) while in possession, supervision, or auspices of the Exhibition Host Venue, its agreed representatives, or employees. Insurance is the sole responsibility and choice of the lender artist, and if lost, stolen or damaged, neither the ACGBR nor Exhibition Host Venue will be held responsible. This includes any installation, de-installation, storage, and/or removal of exhibition components from the venue. 

c. Artists participating in Art Flow must understand that venues are mixed-use spaces for public rental and usage.
